San Rafael - Mendoza - Argentina
Finca Litexco was set up in 2002 following the investment company Litexco’s purchase of land in San Rafael (Mendoza – Argentina) and the subsequent development of various agricultural projects there.
In its Feedlot structure with a turnover of more than 25,000 animals per annum, Litexco has improved its skills in the fattening of cattle – primarily that of the Aberdeen Angus breed - with the support of a team of highly specialised technical advisors and own trained personnel to carry out all phases with great efficiency. Furthermore, as an investor sensitive to corporate social responsibility, Litexco has adopted an internal environmental management protocol in all its agricultural projects in order to achieve, amongst other things, a total cancellation of its carbon footprint.
Litexco opted to grow fine grapes destined for wine production, and thus designed a vineyard for the plantation of Malbec grapes in Finca Litexco’s land, which constitute part of the southern zone of the Registered Designation of Origin of the Mendoza Malbec. Internationally, Malbec wine is increasingly recognized as one of the best wines in the world.
Cultivation of fodder crops
In order to improve the efficiency of livestock activities, Litexco grows agricultural crops that are used as forage for the fattening of the animals. Such crops include alfalfa, corn, sorghum, oats and rye.
Forestation and rotary forestry primarily centred on poplars is developed in Finca Litexco, both in forest and in rows, to pursue the maximum productivity based on water distribution and the greatest possible capture of Carbon Dioxide. The poplar is a fast growing plant that can reach a height of 30 metres, and whose wood is renowned for its robustness and multifunctional properties.
